Fair Isle is a style of jacquard knitting. It is named after Fair Isle, a remote island in the north of Scotland, in the Shetland archipelago.
Fair Isle patterns became popular after Prince of Wales Edward VIII wore a waistcoat using this style in public in 1921.
The term 'Fair Isle' is sometimes used to refer to Norwegian knitwear, while some reserve it for traditional Shetland patterns only.
At Bellerose, we have been freely inspired by the the Fair Isle pattern for our 2022 collection.
