Is hemp breathable?
While many people think of cotton as the most breathable fabric, the physical makeup of hemp fabric actually makes it far more breathable. The interwoven hemp fibbers allow more air to pass through the material. Hemp sheets are also much more porous than cotton, which allows your body to breathe better.
Hemp fabrics are stronger, more absorbent, more durable, and better insulating than cotton. Furthermore, they don't stretch out of shape. This property makes hemp a perfect upholstery fabric because it can be pulled taut and remain taut throughout the life of the furniture.
After it's been processed, hemp feels pretty similar to cotton (just slightly tougher, like a soft canvas). It's also light, faster drying, less absorbing, and more UV protective. Plant wise, it requires less water and half as much land to grow as cotton.
